Richard:
What were your holidays like?
Jack:
Super. I went to France.
Jack:
Yes. I've just got back.
I came back yesterday, as a matter of fact.
Richard:
Aren't you lucky. I've never been abroad.
Jack:
Oh, I've been to France twice.
We've got friends there.
Richard:
How long were you there for?
Jack:
I stayed nearly a fortnight.
Richard:
Did you speak French all the time?
Jack:
Most of the time. I think my French
has improved a lot.
Richard:
What does old Thompson think?
Jack:
Our French teacher? I haven't seen him yet.
Richard:
I saw him in the corridor a couple of minutes ago.
His lesson has already started. We're late.
Jack:
Oh well, it's our first day back, and
I've never been late before.
Did you have a good time?
Richard:
I stayed at home. The weather's been awful here.
I think this is the worst spring
we've ever had.
As a matter of fact, this is the first day
we've had any sun.
And now we're back at school.
